If the public school system required this for the students to read, America would be a different place! Our youngsters today have no idea what they're great grandfathers went through for them. In fact I don't believe the public schools even teach American history anymore...unless it's the mistakes we made! These men (my dad included) went into a war that we had little chance of winning! For the first couple of years we were getting our butts kicked! The men toughened up, the citizens gave and worked harder and we defeated the same powers that are trying to destroy us today! I'm so proud of the WWII veterans, this book is just one of the many that shows America's hero's were ordinary people but gave everything to the cause...we would not be here today if not for their sacrifice! I had the pleasure of meeting both Jake McNeice and Thomas Young in Thomas' Round Mountain, Texas. I had no idea what a blessed time it was. I was sent by my editor at the newspaper - he did not realize that I was an Army brat, and that my father's MOS was to be sent to the same training post as Jake and Tom. Sadly they did not remember meeting him - but they opened up to me with the most delightful of tales. I actually saw them transported from a dining room table in Texas to the shores of Normandy.
